Details on our 2025 Joe Chaves 5K WALK event

We welcome you to join us for our 14th Annual Joe Chaves Memorial 5K Walk/Run event.

• DATE: Sunday, September 28, 2025

• Registration: 12:00pm to 1:00pm

• START LINE: 251 Hampshire St, Cambridge, MA 02139 (Naveo Credit Union)

• Suggested Donation: $30/participant

This event was first held in 2012 to remember José Chaves and to support important scholarships and community programs for the Portuguese-American community of Greater Boston.

our NEW 5K MAP Route

We tried a NEW ROUTE last year and, while it requires more turns as we approach BHCC, it results in a more pleasant experience (lots more trees and natural surroundings).

Even though this is new, this 5K route still charts a course through Joe Chaves’ life including the locations of our two strategic partners: Rogers Funeral Home and Naveo Credit Union.

The Turn-Around spot takes place at Bunker Hill Community College where Joe Chaves once taught business courses. After we take some pictures, we will walk to the Finish Line located at Saint Anthony Church where we will enjoy some food and refreshments as part of the Finish Line Festivities.
